yesterday i was shocked when i got to know that my Father-in-law’s good cholesterol is reduced from 30% to 27% which has to be normal 35% as he sits more time, since he is a Handicap & retired person he cant walk more than 10mins(he takes 10mins rest & starts again but cant walk more if he does his legs will start pain more). so please suggest how can i help him to improve his good cholesterol & remain healty.. Even he has got Blood Pressure & Diabetics.

If he cannot walk more than 10 min at a time, he should repeat walking after taking some rest. Moreover he can also do exercise while sitting on chair by cycling his legs occasionally.

Most of us sit n do our work. This can be tackled by standing and walking at frequent intervals or if possible we can do our job standing and of course can sit down for a while if we feel tired. We can take our old bicycle and go for a ride on week ends instead of using d car.

MEDICAL OPINIONS ARE CHANGING SO FAST AND SO OFTEN THESE DAYS. SOMETIMES SOME OF THEM ARE “EXTREME” LIKE THIS ONE…SOUNDS SCARY LIKE DEATH ITSELF…!!! IN THE WORLD OF TODAY AS WELL AS IN THE PAST, A VAST POPULATION, BOTH MALE AND FEMALE COMBINED, HAD BEEN SITTING AND WORKING FOR LONG HOURS. IF THIS HAD BEEN TO BE REALLY TRUE, THE WORLD POPULATION WOULD HAVE REDUCED INSTEAD. IT IS AN INFORMATIVE ARTICLE BUT AS I PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED IS TOO VERY EXTREME IN IT’S SUBSTANCE.

But will you please explain how the sages & saints of olden days, even some at present days also, sit down in meditation for hours together even without taking any food. Sofar longivity is concerned, as history says, they were alive for more than a century.
Rather, I comment that our present day life styles and absence of regular excercises welcome the diseases and reduces the longivity.
There is no comparison of sitting postures of saints / sages & present day working people , with all their bad virtues / qualities / habits , with unstable mind , useless thoughts etc. The persons practicing or doing sadhana of meditation / Dhyana / yoga / Tapas etc. in Nirvana Sthithi do not be effected with the physical postures adopt , as the Prana / soul is in detached stage from the materialistic body ( Asharir / Avyakt state ).

This is nothing new. Already in our own traditional Hindu system, every house will be having this type of seating arrangement in the corridor i.e. Thinnai in Tamil and all used to sit in that posture only. With the new arival of software ac rooms, every body is developing back pain and cervical spondilities. Old is gold man. Follow the traditional way of sitting and sleeping from now onwards…

At the same time one need not be so anxious about this.There are millions of men and women working through out the world sitting hours together that too through out their carrier.If the information given through the above message is correct to cent percent, there should not have anybody remaining alive in such work places. we can avoid sitting for hours together by walking for a few minutes during such long hours sitting-duty.
