8 Tips to Take Control of Your Weight

Anyone who is overweight will testify that losing weight is not as easy as it seems. The people that are lean, or have gone from fat to skinny will say it’s just a matter of motivation and elbow grease. Although it is not as simple as that. Our environments have waged war on us. Their weapons are sedentary lives and trans fats of mass destruction. All is not lost though, here are some quick simple tips to get ahead!
- Substitute Water. Our bodies are about 65-70% water. It follows that water would be not only essential, but the best possibly choice of liquids to ingest. In fact, our bodies will sometimes simulate a hunger response, when in reality the body is craving hydration. When hungry, drink a glass or two of water to check if it suppresses your hunger.
- Chew Your Food. Chewing our food very slowly and deliberately has several benefits that are often overlooked. It gives us the ability to relax, and enjoy our meal. Slow chewing is the first, and highly important, step in a complex system of digestion. Besides, if we eat slowly, we might feel full before finishing the whole meal, and can leave the rest for the next meal.
- Exercise daily. How silly of me to include something as obvious as exercise. I did a 30 day trial with waking up, and walking for 30 minutes first thing in the morning. My journal records that I was feeling amazing during the period of time that I was following this habit.
- Publicize your intentions. Start a blog, join a forum, and have other people keep you accountable to help. Tell other people your plan, it would help you get the motivation to go with it!
- Create a food schedule. Plan your day so that you’re eating at approximately the same time each day. This scheduling will incorporate itself into your circadian rhythm, and aid in digestion.
- Do not over eat. Know your limit and stop eating when you are full. I have often been a victim of wanting to finish a meal so that it doesn’t go to waste. This has left me with many a stomach ache. Next time, doggy bag it for later, and don’t hurt yourself!
- Choose your snacks wisely. Put down the Lays® and cheese puffs. Pick up the apple and baby carrots. Make the right decision, I know you can do it.
- Lifestyle. Remember, it’s not about special diets, or special exercise programs. The real secret is in turning your health into a lifestyle, and focusing on this healthy lifestyle with every choice you make.

Whoever wrote this article, it is true that these points will definitely help you a lot in maintaining good health. I have been following these points since almost 4 months except doing exercises. One more point I like to add, which is similar to point 6:
Dont eat upto full stomach. It is very bad and leads to weight gain and unhealthy body. Eat only till the hunger is satisfied. “That is what our body needs”. Once the hunger is satisfied, eat very little (Not till the stomach is full) and put a FULLSTOP.
The result I achieved is amazing. Practise these points and achieve good health.

the battle of the bulge goes on and on and on ……….. but,foods do tempt us and if taken sparsely and on occasions, appears to give back the bulge. our present living conditions make it almost impossible to overcome this temptation.

Difficult to follow??????
The most difficult of the 8 suggestions is the fifth one; particularly for people who have retired from active service; the sleeping pattern is not regular or uniform; there are times, like now, I am up at about 3.30 AM and will probably go back for an early morning (!!) nap at about 8 am; thwere are days when i go to bed late, say around 1.00 am and get up at about 9.30 am or so. i golf and do yoga regularly; if there is a method for regular (or) regulated sleeping hours, please do let me know.

The weight loss mantra is there , but always one has to remember that whatever the mind can concieve believe it can achieve… so one has to believe that one can lose weight in a Healthy way!! There are plenty of proven weight management systems in place .. Treat Your Body like a Temple!!!

One has to discipline the routine.Nice tips to follow.
It is not difficult, and certainly not impossible. I have tried and benefited personally by reducing my weight from 85 kgs to 75 kgs (in 6 months) and then maintaining my weight at 75 kgs effortlessly.
An hour brisk-walk daily (six out of seven days),morning normal breakfast,substituting lunch with fruits at 2-hour spacing during daytime, puffed rice with green vegetables in evening after return from office,dinner of soup with green vegetables and 2-3 slices of bread. Eating slowly (minimum 15 minutes) with total silence is of great help. You need to be absolutely determined in the first two weeks. Thereafter it forms your daily habit. The urge to eat huge quantity disappears. Reduce partying to 1-2 times in a week and drink/ eat in moderate quantity only. Sleep by 2000 hrs and get up early to start the day. If the urge to eat becomes very strong keep banana/orange/papaya and sugarfree biscuits handy in your car/office/home etc. Always remember you will never die of hunger but only due to eating more. I am sure all of you can do it if I can do it. And after two hours you are going to eat something again.

forget the food…just eat the breakfast and dont eat any thing aal the day…you can put cup of water in any where you will be in and take some 4 times in hour
